SAFETY FIRST
AT BIKE COMPANY WE PLACE GREAT EMPHASIS ON THE SAFETY IN OUR TRIPS
Accidents and incidents can never be completely eliminated in travels of adventurous nature. But we believe that with a good understanding of the hazards, risks assessment and well trained guides with good judgement, accidents and incidents can be minimised.
Our tours take place in the countryside and in the highlands of Iceland. If you choose to participate in our tours it is up to you to ride well within your limits and be mindful of your own safety and your actions that may affect the safety of the group.
OUR SAFETY POLICY
- Detailed route-planning

- Stay on marked trails
- Obey all signs and warnings
- Do not cut switchbacks
- Keep off closed areas
- Avoid riders ahead of you; they have the right of way

- If you are involved in or witness a collision or accident, stay with your fellow rider

YOUR SAFETY

- Participants must keep their bikes in good working condition
- Personal medical travel insurance is mandatory!
We also acknowledge the importance of safety and security issues with respect to the more conventional parts of our trips. Such as general hygiene, 4×4 transports and food preparation. All of these aspects and more have been dealt with in our risk management plan. The risk factors are identified and analysed, guidelines for management and observation are outlined and contingency plans set out.
Our guides have first aid training but if a serious injury occurs they will call local Search and Rescue services at the cost of the participant.
They will be equipped by a radio, a first aid kit and is certified in first aid. Safety is ultimately a group effort. This means each participant rides well within their ability and understands that our goal is for everyone to finish the trip in good health.
