Iceland is still seldom visited in the winter. The endless nights create a strange sense of timelessness and new possibilities.
From October to Mars we have the country for us alone. Biking at this time of the year, in the middle of the nowhere and (maybe) the northern lights dancing over our heads, is an adventure-filled journey you will never forget! You get to experience astonishing Icelandic countryside that keeps changing before your eyes as you bike further. Vast meadows overlooked by snow-capped volcanos, waterfalls and glacial rivers that spreads in wide, black plains around you. The biking passe mainly on gravel roads as well as on earthy/grassy tracks.

Meeting point: At Hvolsvöllur village at 10 am.

Pick up option: Possible to be picked up at your hotel in Reykjavik for a extra charge.

Group size: From 2 – 10 participants.

Duration: ~ 4 hours.

Activity level: Is rated as moderate for intermediate and advanced biker.

Fitness level: As you know, the fitter you are the more fun you'll have. Flexible itineraries take account of fitness, weather and participants’ wishes. Keep in mind that Iceland can be chilly, even in summer. The weather can change quickly and wind and rain is common.

The road: Biking on a fat bike on gravel roads, earthy/grassy tracks. Waterfalls abound, including an ride to Fljótshlid Valley, crossing a glacial river.

Operation: This tour is organised in collaboration with MIDGARD ADVENTURE.

Price: 19,000 ISK pr. person.

Your personal equipment Bring a small backpack, warm clothing, winter gear, good outdoor shoes and warm gloves. You need to be prepared for a wide range of weather. Expect the temperature to dip down to below 10°C (below 50°F) and to warm up to 15-20°C (60-70°F). 

Your Safety: This trip take place in the countryside of Iceland. If you choose to participate in our tours it is up to you to ride well within your limits and be mindful of your own safety and your actions that may affect the safety of the group. Participants must make sure to stay hydrated, nourished and rested. Any alcohol or drug consumption is prohibited during our rides. Our guides have first aid training but if a serious injury occurs they will call local Search and Rescue services at the cost of the participant. Personal medical travel insurance is mandatory.
